Been a while since I ate here. However when I was skiing over the course of 4 days we ate diner there twice. It was that good and very reasonably priced.

  • *****

Great meal and superb service. Our server Bonnie was very nice and attentive. Steaks and prime rib cooked just the way we ordered.
    Pleasant evening in the mountains.

  • *****

Superb dining. Meticulous preparation, relaxing atmosphere. Stonewalls will never disappoint from their attentive staff and dinner selections prepared to perfection. Always the Highest sanitation rating!!

We reserved their upstairs party room for a family reunion. The food was excellent, the service was too. Prices are very reasonable. Our waitress, Bonnie, took very good care of us despite the large size of the group.

Walked in and the woman at the front knew which reservation we were checking in for. Told my son happy birthday and took us to our table. Our server was nice but did spill water on the table and was not as attentive as expected in a restaurant that charged 22-70 a meal. The bread that comes out while you wait was really good! I mean really good (or we were just really hungry?). The house wine was good (wish it was a few degrees cooler though).

We started with fried deviled eggs and beer battered cheese. The deviled eggs were good but we all agreed we like regular deviled eggs better. The fried egg white was a bit harder and warm so it wasn't our favorite but good nonetheless. The bettered cheese bites were amazing! Really good dill ranch dressing to pair with them.

For our mains, my son had the center cut sirloin and my husband and I had filets. They were all cooked perfectly! Seasoned to perfection. Mashed potatoes were great too. We really wanted yo try the deserts but ate way too much. The manager said the chef makes homemade ice cream flights. We also saw a number of cakes sent to tables which looked amazing! Next time we may cut back on first course items so we have more room!

Took my wife for our 20th Anniversary. Great food and environment Our waiter was very friendly. Kept a great check on us the entire time.

  • *****

Wonderful food and service. My husband and I loved the fried deviled eggs, and the prime rib was tender and perfect. Our server Courtney was attentive and helpful with food selections. We will definitely be back.

  • *****

Had a delightful evening with family, seated outside. The restaurant is nice, relaxed, and best of all, not pretentious. The food was good. Our server, Courtney, was well-versed in the fare, charming, intuitive and really made our evening. Stonewalls is our go-to when in the area.

  • *****

Great food and drinks, and a large (though not exciting) salad bar you can add for only $4!

  • *****

My wife and I have enjoyed 3 visits now to Stonewalls. Each time we have been very impressed with the food and service. Tonight, Sarah was our waitress. She was very pleasant and informative. I had French onion soup, 12 oz NY strip, cooked perfectly and twice baked potato. All of which were outstanding! I didn't need steak sauce or even any additional salt or pepper. Actually one of the best steak I've ever had. My wife had the 12 oz ribeye with asparagus. Also cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our meal was preceded by delicious, warm, fresh baked bread and soft butter. We can't wait to go back and highly recommend to all!

    Sincerely,
    Archie Litaker

Great meal and service once the server realized we were there. Logan was great! Ambiance very good. Our table of four had NY Strip , Trout & Prime Rib. Great value and presentation. Dessert, Peach Melba scrumptious shared by four. Good wine selection and cocktails to choose from. If you do bring your own wine there is a $25 corkage charge so might be better to choose from wine list. Will return to Stonewalls next time in town and recommend to anyone looking for something special with multiple choices. Thank you

  • *****

Excellent food and the staff are top notch. Scott and Tim have taken this place to a whole new level.

  • *****

The absolute best. This has been my favorite restaurant in the world since I can remember. I have had birthdays and graduation and opening night dinners there. The BEST service!! very personable. I highly recommend going here. Thank you Scott and Tim for this wonderful Gem.

  • *****

Best restaurant in Avery County and probably several surrounding areas. Prime rib is always the best and salad bar is awesome.

  • *****

Lovely dinner. The bar was hopping but we were a large party and sat outside. We had the sea bass and the teenagers had pasta and burgers. As always, the salad bar was amazing. The place is stunning since being renovated.

  • *****

Great restaurant! The best roast beef and salad bar. My favorite sides are the sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts. They go out of their way to accommodate you for your seating preference. The staff always remembers us and the Management is terrific. You will never have a better dining experience!

  • *****

We chose this place last minute based on yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Not only did they accommodate fitting our large party without a reservation, but provided us with great service. We will be back next time we are in town. That and our waiter, Logan, was down with OPP which made it all the better. Give them a chance to meet your expectations, and they will surpass them!

  • *****

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. There was live music the night we went (Fri). Salad bar was good but it wasn't anything special like advertised.

  • *****

Our server was great. He was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our steaks were just "ok." Cooked ok, not dry or tough, but not especially flavorable. We've had better at chain steakhouses. I give them four stars only because of the server...otherwise, it's a three.

  • *****

Bonnie was an attentive waitress for our group of 7 adults. She constantly refreshed our beverages and served everything correctly.
Of course, the food is always wonderful.

  • *****

Still the Best!! Great food, fantastic service, and the ambiance can't be beat. Stonewalls is my absolute favorite restaurant - I have never had a bad meal or poor service. One of the few restaurants that is consistently good.

  • *****

Amazing food and service! Got the pork chop and it was to die for. The Brussels sprouts as a side were amazing as well. Before dinner my husband and I got drinks and sat on patio in the chairs out front. So relaxing. There was also live music playing inside! Would def come back.

  • *****

BEST. PRIME. RIB. EVER! Best staff (front & back), service, and atmosphere to go with it! You don't go to Stonewalls for dinner, you go for an experience. The amazing food is just a small part of it. If you've never had Prime Rib that literally melts in your mouth, you aren't truly experiencing Prime Rib.
But make sure you save room for the homemade Girl Scout cookie ice cream......or chocolate molten lava cake.......or apple crisp.....

  • *****

We THOUGHT it would be good, but...we celebrated our 26th anniversary here. We both decided on the special...grouper with a lobster sauce, choice of side. My hubby chose asparagus, with an extra side of maple mashed sweet potatoes. My side was maple glazed Brussels sprouts. I also got calamari appetizer. One of our BEST.MEALS.EVER. Hubby bragged on the house merlot; we both thought the grouper was fantastic. The homemade rosemary bread caused us to overindulge. Our server, Bonnie was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and a joy to spend an hour with. Regret that we did not have room to try a dessert.

  • *****

Prime rib and salad bar 5 stars. That's what I had...the pasta was 3 stars for my Father in law, the server was great. He was knowledgeable. The atmosphere is the absolute best the Smoky mountains have to offer. It's very nice and outside there was a gas fire pit where we took drinks while we waited for our table. The steaks were also 5 stars. What a nice surprise in banner elk. I'll be back.

  • *****

This is by far the best restaurant in the area. Ever since the new owners took over the did a complete overhaul of everything. More beautiful than ever, the food is wonderful and their staff is attentive, caring, any issues are addressed at once, but have not noticed any customers unhappy. The only unhappy people are those that don't have reservations and are told they cannot be seated ( although they do anything possible to accommodate folks. Rib-eye, prime rib, lobster, stuffed mushrooms cream spinach I can go on and on. All wonderful glad we are dining there tomorrow for our anniversary. Also Heather is always our server. She is incredible

  • *****

Oh my what a wonderful dinner. My husband and I were in Banner Elk and went to Stonewalls and had the best Prime Rib dinner ever. Heather our waitress was the best. And I can't say enough about how wonderful our dinner was. Know doubt we will be back soon.

  • *****

Our favorite restaurant in the area. The prime rib is delicious. Favorite sides include the creamed spinach, maple mashed sweet potatoes and the Brussels sprouts.

  • *****

Amazing experience, exceptional food! You've GOT to make a reservation. Also, ask the bartender for the mojito!

  • *****

I wish there were more than 5 stars because the food and service was outstanding. We are visiting from Florida and chose Stonewalls for our family Christmas Eve dinner. A very good choice indeed. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the prime rib was melt in your mouth delicious. It was very busy and we still received timely and friendly service. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning when we are back in the area.

  • *****

Great salad bar. The Spinach artichoke dip was amazing, beer battered Ashe county cheese curds are also a great choice for appetizer. Ribeye was very tender and juicy. The staff was friendly and helpful. Friday nights they have a guitarist who is wonderful. Will be back again.

  • *****

Awesome food, awesome service from Anne, our server!!! Our steak was cooked to perfection, and the chicken Oscar was tender enough and as juicy to cut with my fork. The salad bar is out of this world!!!

  • *****

Everything from food quality, customer service, and atmosphere was phenomenal! Me and my husband came here two times during our honeymoon because of how much we loved their high quality and good portioned food. Our food came out very quickly. All the staff here is very friendly and professional. No complaints; we highly recommend!

  • *****

This was our first visit to Banner Elk. Stonewalls was recommended by staff at resort. Called to make reservations a day ahead, lady that answered was very helpful and friendly. Arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and seated immediately. Nice Atmosphere. Rashaun was our server he was very polite and attentive to our requests. Great Job Rashaun. Ordered prime rib and the maple sweet mashed potatoes along with the salad bar it was an excellent choice. Highly recommend and will definitely dine again when back in area.

  • *****

The food and service from our wait staff was excellent. The steak, baked potatoes and stuffed mushrooms were delicious. The salad bar was amazing with over 50 items. The only reason that it is not 5 stars is because my husband was 'shushed' with 'the hand' ' by the older hostess at the hostess stand. He was speaking to the younger gal regarding our reservation and the older lady was on the phone and clearly had a difficult time hearing in the busy environment, because I observed her to have her hand over her ear the whole night. Perhaps move her or the phone to a more quiet place.

  • *****

Stonewalls is an exquisite restaurant for discerning tastes. If you are anywhere near the area, or traveling, you cannot miss out on Stonewalls. My wife and I dine here very often. The servers are very tentative to your needs. The steaks are prepared to perfection every time.

If you are looking for an upscale setting for your next outing, this is the place. Mr. Garland and his partner have transformed Stonewalls into the areas finest cuisine.

Thank you Stonewalls, from the Powell family!

We dined here tonight for the first time since Stonewalls had changed owners and had a really excellent experience. Anne, our server, was probably the best server we have ever had. I had questions literally about everything and she knew the answers immediately, such as "is there onion in the crab cake?" and she went into full detail on what to expect with the shrimp and lobster bisque (a true bisque, no lump meat). She offered suggestions to make this a great dining experience. Her knowledge of the menu was very helpful. I was between which Chardonnay to order and she offered to bring 3 to taste. I went with her suggestion and was pleased. We had the chicken and waffle appetizer and it was enough for 4! The spicy syrup was delicious and the chicken crispy. My husband's steak was to his desired temperature, and she made sure to ask. I ordered shrimp skewers which were not very flavorful, but we live at the beach- I should have known better. Overall enjoyable atmosphere and meal. I would be more adventurous with my meal next time, as the chefs specials we saw come out looked amazing.

  • *****

Great place if you're looking for a higher end steak restaurant no complaints whatsoever state food was great will visit again when my inheritance comes in :-)

  • *****

All I have to say is if you're in Banner elk North Carolina you need to go to stonewalls restaurant. They have the best steak that I have ever eaten!!! Great service!!!! friendly people!!!!! Great atmosphere!!!! Overall a 10+!!!!!

  • *****

All we can say is, “If you’re near Banner Elk, you NEED to come to Stonewalls and try their ribeye steak!!” It is the top best steak that I have eaten in a very long time. I did NOT even use any steak sauce. It was cooked to perfection and naturally seasoned.
The atmosphere was great, as well as the service. Very friendly group of people that work here. I cannot recommend this place enough!!! BY FAR A 10+ RATING RESTAURANT!!!!

  • *****

First time in Banner Elk and took Yelp's advice to come to Stonewalls. Great spot for dinner with the family or just two. Thanks to Bonnie for the fantastic service and menu recommendations. We'll be back.

  • *****

Yes this place deserves a 5 star. I have been all over the world and this is the best. The Prime Rib delicious, the filet delicious, the salmon delicious. Annnnddddd the desert well we shared them all. Do again.

  • *****

We made reservations here for 12/31/18 NYE for a group of 13 and were very pleased. The food was all delicious. We had 7 kids with us and they were treated very warmly and in their own table next to us. Bonnie our server was super efficient and sweet. We will definitely visit again when we are in town.

  • *****

I've chose Stonewalls for a Christmas gathering of old college friends, as I have enjoyed eating here before. We arrived, all seven of us, and were promptly seated. Logan, our server, took fine care of us, and I enjoyed a Chunnel cocktail served very quickly. I ordered the sea bass on the chef's menu; it arrived with a very appealing eye, and had a great flavor. My only critique was that one side of it stayed a bit too long on to sear, and as a result had a slightly charred flavor on the one side, not really what I was after.
Aside from that, the food was delicious, including dessert, the cocktails were well made, and the atmosphere was ideal. I'll return here for sure !!!

  • *****

I threw up in the bathroom because I was on a date and I was nervous. 10/10 would recommend. The bathroom was clean and the service was great. I had a filet and it was cooked wonderfully!

  • *****

We were looking for a nice Christmas Eve dinner. Boy did we find it. The food was amazing and the service was great. Are waitress Courtney was the sweetest thing. There were four of us we had steak, prime rib and a rack of ribs. There were no complaints from anyone. The decor was also very nice. We will be back

  • *****

This restaurant is our family's favorite place. We recommend reservations!!!! We had Christmas Eve dinner and they were packed. We were sat upstairs in the event area. Bonnie was our server and she was fabulous. She kept the drinks flowing and anything we might need. The food was hot when it came out. My husband had the Sea Bass and added a crab cake on the side. So fresh and light. I had my FAVORITE, the pork chop. Of course we ALL had the salad bar. Be ready for an expensive meal, but well worth every penny!!!!

  • *****

Where do I start?? We had a great experience from the moment we called the resturant to make a reservation. Stonewalls has a high-end atmosphere yet comfortable and inviting vibe. We were catered to from the moment we stepped food inside until the time we left. We ordered the prime rib, baby back ribs and the crab cake, all of which were OUTSTANDING. High recommend this resturant. We will be returning the next time we're in Banner Elk.

  • *****

Amazing food, great atmosphere , great customer service , definitely worth another visit

  • *****

Great apps. Decent wine list. The ribeyes are extremely thin. Good atmosphere and nicely laid out. Last time I was here I had the filet and it was great. Update: Owner responded that I can have a custom cut ribeye! I wish they told me that or perhaps I missed it on the menu. I can't tell you how happy that makes me!

  • *****

Wife and I visiting the Banner Elk area for a few days and were ready for a solid meal. We found it. We were welcomed on a breezy night by roaring outdoor gas fireplace, the inside decor was equally impressive. Very clean lines with a white/gray/platinum/black color scheme. The waitress was very attentive and sold us on the Beaufort, NC oysters and a very clever batter-fried pearl onion appetizer. Think onion ring nuggets. WOW! We both had the bone-in pork chop in a demi-glaze with blue cheese butter on top. Who'da thunk; it was great. Took home red velvet cheese cake, cake. Great red velvet cake, with a layer of cheese cake in the middle. In all, very solid, reasonably-priced food, with creativity, and nice atmosphere.

  • *****

Was visiting the area for the fall Oz event and a friend in Raleigh told us we HAD to visit Stonewalls. Good choice!

We got there early with no reservation - parking was challenging but we were in and seated fairly promptly.

Steaks were perfect. Wine selections were good. Atmosphere was great. Live music was not too loud and was quite entertaining. Our server was personable, friendly and helpful.

Sat outside by the fire pit to let dinner settle for a bit afterwards. Music from the place next door was also entertaining.

  • *****

OMG. The BEST restaurant in the area. Prime rib was perfection. No attempt to mask the wonderful flavor of the meat with tons of pepper and salt. Salad bar was fresh and delish. Courtney was fantastic as our server. Going back for dinner tomorrow and brunch on Sunday. Why look elsewhere and risk being disappointed.

  • *****

I had been to Stonewalls a while back before the new ownership and was very disappointed almost to the point I wrote a pretty bad review. I received a request from Scott to come back as things had changed. They had, and I have been back no fewer than 4 times and each time has been better than the last. Thank you for reaching out to me.

  • *****

Wonderful meal tonite. Our server Logan was fantastic very knowledgeable. Food was great. Ribs were delicious fish and chips were perfect. Calamari done perfectly and fried pickles were yummy. Food came out quickly and hot. We will be back. Only complaint we were to full for dessert.

  • *****

Very comfortable restaurant with a great fire pit in front. The service was superb and the food was delicious. Our hostess did a great job and all in a timely manner. I highly recommend the shrimp scampi and fish and chips. They give a huge amount of food. We left the restaurant and about an hour later went back for dessert which we ate outside by the fire. Loved it! Highly recommend!!!

  • *****

We reserved the upstairs area last year for 8/31/18 Rehearsal dinner for my son and his bride to be. The food and service were excellent. The owner assisted us with the menu and ordered linens I requested. The wedding party and our families all thoroughly enjoyed the salad bar, food selections offered and the MOUSSE for dessert. Thank you Scott and Team for an incredible dining experience.

  • *****

Not only was the food superb, but the bartender was more than excellent . Troy made me feel welcome and his food suggestions were spot on. This may be the only restaurant I try while I'm here!!!

  • *****

Went for our anniversary. Our waitress, Laura, was very attentive and personable even though they were very busy. I had the lobster bisque, hubby had a crab cake. Both were exceptional. Then I had the chicken Florentine, hubs had the prime rib. Both were cooked to perfection. Will definitely go again.

  • *****

Best restaurant in this area, hands down!!
Everything from entrees, appetizers, cocktails to desserts were fabulous. Ask for Logan, he was an awesome server. I give the owners and chefs many compliments for a beautiful restaurant and atmosphere.

  • *****

It's definitely a warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. The food was good but we expected just a little bit more for the money. Portion sizes were just a little on the small side and food was a little too well done. I would give them another try. Owner was delightful and the fire pit outside gives a cozy feeling. The ambience is modern rustic and makes you feel like a friend's living room. A place you want to come back to.

  • *****

Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful interior! Place has been around for decades, but now one of my favorite restaurants in Banner Elk NC.
Food was delicious & fresh. Desserts & bread so tasty & homemade! Exquisite, 5 stars from me & my girl. Ohh, and wonderful service & friend friendly staff..

  • *****

Amazing food and service. Wonderful atmosphere. We dined alfresco and it was lovely . 27th Wedding Anniversary dinner

  • *****

That was some awesome food and great service and great ambiance. We dined alfresco.

  • *****

    Best Halibet EVER

  • *****

Great place to eat. Coconut shrimp app and filet entree arey favorite they have the best bake potatoes ever and the salad bar is fresh and clean with a huge selection. The missippi mud pie for dessert is the bomb. The draft wine is excellent comes out at a perfect temperature. Ask for Bonnie or Heather they are great and very knowledgeable.

  • *****

Great food. Awesome service from our waitress Bonnie. Loved the music. Hanging out out side around the fire pit was a plus. I ate here 2 nights in a row. Met several new friends. I felt at home and a bit spoiled. ??????

  • *****

Newly renovated with a comfortable bar area and outside seating. The chef knows his way around seafood as well as meats as I've had some of the best of both there this season. Having come up from Miami, where we have many great restaurants, I feel Stonewalls is as good if not better than the two other local high end restaurants but more reasonably priced and without the hoopla.

  • *****

In 10+years, I’ve never had anything but an outstanding meal there. The service is beyond superb. Always.

  • *****

We were celebrating our 60th anniversary. Everyone was so very nice. My filet and my husbands prime rib were delicious. The French onion soon great. The bartender made me a Milky Way martini. He did an excellent job. We will be going again. Everyone who comes to the High Country needs to eat there. Staff is excellent also.

  • *****

    Great service!

  • *****

This place is absolutely amazing. The service was fabulous and they did a great job explaining the specials. They even allowed us to order off the menu. Fabulous food and beautiful decor as well.

  • *****

Was in the area for Oz and was told about Stonewalls.
    Glad we checked it out.
    Excellent service and delicious food.
    Great atmosphere with reasonable prices.

  • *****

Best place to eat! Reasonable too! Wonderful atmosphere come when you can relax by the fire pit.

  • *****

Great food, great environment and even better service!!

  • *****

The new owner's certainly got it right!! Scott and Tim have really outdone themselves...from the impeccable decor...down to the high quality steak knives...NO detail has been overlooked! Then there's the food...seriously guys?! I was blown away!! The filet was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the sweet potatoes were nothing short of divine!! Our server, Bonnie, was also delightful and the dessert was literally "icing on the cake!" WELL DONE...we will be back soon and very soon...very possibly for breakfast :)

  • *****

    The best Prime Rib!

  • *****

Excellent food and service! Homemade deserts were an exceptional ending of our diner experience.

  • *****

We went to Stonewalls 4 a surprise Birthday dinner! I was fabulous! My husband got the new York strip and I got the chicken Florentine and both were fabulous! Decor was beautiful and staff very nice and knowledgeable about the menu.

  • *****

Excellent food and the service was outstanding!!

  • *****

Great steakhouse, completely re-done on the inside since the last time I was there. Food was fresh, service was good. My husband and I ordered the filet- it was cooked perfectly how we wanted. No complaints. Bonnie was our server- she was attentive and timed our appetizer, salad, and main meal so we didn't have everything all at once!

  • *****

I can’t think of one bad thing to say. Our sever was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was served quickly ,and was cooked to perfection! If you get the chance, do yourself a favor and stop by. You will not regret it.

  • *****

Newly renovated looks great. Great dining experience. Food was delicious and fresh. All home made desserts and home made ice creams. Friendly and enthusiastic staff.

We come to Banner Elk usually twice a year, always have driven into Boone to eat at the Peddler just from habit I guess. Stopped by Stonewall’s for appetizers one afternoon, the next evening we had an amazing dinner. One of the best pieces of prime rib ever. We found a favorite when in Banner Elk or on Beech from now on! Randy and Gail Brittian

  • *****

Always good here . Never had a bad meal , will return again and again .

  • *****

    Good lunch!!!

Great food great service our waitress was Bonnie she was excellent we came to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary

  • *****

    Great food!! Awesome Atmosphere!!

  • *****

Went here on family vacation for my father in law's birthday dinner. Generally, everyone in our party was pleased with the choice. Nice ambiance, though lots of people were dressed casually? Seemed to contradict all these reviews where people felt "underdressed." My husband and I agreed afterward that it was overpriced. Not terribly so. You pay for "the experience" in tourist areas, I get that. And the food wasn't bad by any means. I just felt it was on par with a lot of chain restaurants/steakhouses that cost less. The salad bar, for example, is touted as one of their great signature features. To me, it was no better or worse than Ruby Tuesday's. If you get a cocktail, you're looking at $12 minimum. Steaks run starting in the higher $20s. Some places, I'll happily dole it out. At Stonewall's, I found myself wanting to cap at $20, which meant either pasta (without meat) or a sandwich.
I give 4 stars because we had a good dining experience overall. Our waiter was attentive and polite, and we left full. If you're looking for something higher end (or if you're looking for a modestly priced vacation meal), look elsewhere. The issue is, there isn't a lot of "elsewhere" in Banner Elk so...enjoy it for what it is and don't be disappointed!

  • *****

Stonewalls is a great place to eat with your family. They have great food and customer service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

  • *****

Stonewalls is Top Notch! I took my parents to dinner, amd just WOW! The wedge salad with the balsamic drizzle and warm bacon is to die for! The prime rib is cooked perfectly and is incredibly delicious! The chicken Oscar, out of this world! And the Filet is the moat tender flavorful cut of meat I have had in a long time! Even if you dont like spinach, you have to try the creamed spinach... Its that good! Service is AMAZING as well! We will definitely be back!

  • *****

Overall this was a fabulous place with good food, friendly service, and a great "date night" for the hubs and I. We were a tad under-dressed and got a few sideways glances from one table of old fuddy duddies. Lol :-) But the waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The decor was relaxing and romantic. I loved all the black and white prints of local scenery. We were visiting family in town and had a night on our own. I had seen the prime rib pics on Yelp and HAD to have it. I also was pleased to find some local wines on their menu. The steaks were awesome. The wine was great. The bartender made the hubs the BEST Tom Collins he'd ever had. Overall, I'd definitely come back...maybe dressed a little nicer next time.

  • *****

Four of us visited Stonewalls this evening for the first time. We were a little under dressed but our Waiter, Daniel never missed a beat. He was kind and very hospitable but not syrupy. He was prepared when my husband asked him if he really needed the steak knife for the Prime Rib. The scallops were Devine! Atmosphere was wonderful. Thank you Daniel for making our dining experience fabulous and one that we will want to repeat in the future.

  • *****

One of our favorites. We always ask for Liz as our server. She's terrific! The wild mushroom pasta is fabulous as well as the prime rib. Love the salad bar too!

  • *****

Came here after being recommended for a good steak. Hubby ordered the NY Strip which was tender and flavorful and cooked to perfection The rosemary fries were a good complement with them and piled high. I loved the thick asparagus and how it was seasoned. My grilled shrimp was good. Liked the chilled plates for the salad bar. The salad bar ingredients were fresh too and I loved the taste of their olive oil. Restaurant was busy on a Saturday evening and two servers were helping us which I thought was very nice.

  • *****

This place was amazing! Jason, our server, very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Not only did he help us with deciding on food, he gave great advice on what to do around town. If you visit here, ask for him. He was amazing and food was great!

  • *****

Sarah( or Sara) was our bartender, super cool, and we met the owner(Scott), super cool as well! What a great place! MUST STOP HERE!!!!! DO IT NOW DAMN IT!

  • *****

Great Food and Amazing Service/ Staff
Every time! I Always recommend Stonewalls because if it's location and atmosphere.
The owners are great, very friendly and professional! The food, the service and the team of employees make this a consistent pleasurable dining experience.

  • *****

This was a great dinner choice near sugar mountain. My husband and I were looking for a healthy meal.

They have a very good salad bar with their own balsamic vinegars. I tried the sesame tuna with seaweed salad (nightly special) and my husband got the prime rib. My asparagus was a little bland, but the main courses were fantastic. Nice environment with a warm fireplace.

    Cocktails and starters looked delicious!

  • *****

Had a great meal here while visiting for the weekend! Definitely best fried pickles I've ever had plus the French onion soup was delicious. Really good variety on the salad bar. Waitress was busy but so nice and very helpful. Thinking about coming back for brunch in the morning..

  • *****

Wow. This place was awesome. We had a bang bang chicken type appetizer. The mountain trout and a special nut crusted trout with fried asparagus and mashed potatoes. My son ordered off the Italian menu and his meatball sub was really good, and I am Italian and make my own so I can judge ! The chocolate lava cake was awesome !! All that and four drinks for a little over 70 dollars. We will definitely be back. Service was also awesome. The young man who waited on us was great. We will definitely be back next year

  • *****

Always a hit! As a Banner Elk local, it’s our “go to” for dinner! Whether you’re in the mood for just a salad or you are craving a steak or a juicy burger, they’re the best at all of it! We love the wide variety of fish and seafood also!!

Food and service were spot on. Great place!!! We will definitely be back. Salad bar is top notch and food was very well prepared.

We went on New Year's Eve, having made reservations in advance. We still had a little wait, but the bartender checked to see if we'd like cocktails while we waited, and we overheard him describe the owners and their passion for food and service. We were already hooked, and eagerly anticipating the meal. And it did not disappoint - despite being very busy on a holiday/special occasion, the Prime Rib was perfect and was served with REAL horseradish, not that sauce you get most places. The au jus had just the right amount of rosemary and salt and complemented the slow-roasted meat perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive, and no request was unmet. Do yourself a favor and go to Stonewalls for any occasion - you won't regret it.

    We were
Originally going to have dinner at Bella's but changed our minds last minute. We are so happy we did!
The food was delicious, the salad bar was perfect and fresh with so many healthy options. I loved the variety of oils and vinegars.
My husband and son had the fettuccine Alfredo and absolutely loved it.
We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, the breading was a little thick but the family ate them up!...

Amazing restaurant! Just perfect! We even brought kids! Best pork chop I've ever had!

Fantastic food & drinks!! My husband had the ribeye and said it was the best steak he’s ever had. That’s coming from a guy who has eaten all over the world for business. Great price for the quality! Beautifully renovated and the staff were top-notch! Can’t wait to come back!

New Year's Eve dinner with friends was a great experience. The food and service was fabulous!! Highly recommend and will certainly go back. Thank you for a very nice evening!

Excellent food and great service! We will eat here again!

It's a great restaurant. A bit more upscale than the others in the area but it's ok to wear jeans. Renovations look beautiful. Service and food is consistently good. Never had a bad meal.

This was our first visit to Banner Elk. Stonewalls was highly recommended by anyone we talked with about a good place to eat. My wife had the Pan seared Duck breast with cranberry orange relish and maple roasted brussel sprouts with winter squash.I had the Ribeye covered in mushrooms and onions. For dessert we shared a 3 layer Red Velvet cake with a cheesecake center layer. The food was AWESOME! This is definitely a restaurant that everyone staying in or around Banner Elk should plan to eat at while they are in the area. You will not bw disappointed!

  • *****

The food is excellent but sit in the bar and listen to the awesome musician who plays the guitar! Awesome!!!

  • *****

Outstanding place to eat while on the mountain. I consider myself to be a burger connoisseur and they have one of the best. A blend of three different meats go into a 10oz burger served among a toasted bun. We also dinned on a very tender red snapper that you could cut with a spoon.

  • *****

Best steaks anywhere in area. Highly recommend. Not cheapest place in town but who want to eat there. Well worth the money. Staff great

  • *****

We’ve been coming here for the last 30 years! It’s family tradition ! Food was amazing as always! Staff and service was great ! Always reccommend Stonewall’s! Can’t wait til next year! Great job! Love the renovation ~ beautiful!

Stonewalls was a great restaurant for many years but it fell by the wayside until last year when new owners took over. I am happy to say that now it's better than ever!!! Prime Rib is to die for, as are the ribs and trout almandine. Be sure to arrive early so you can enjoy their fabulous new NY style bar and specialty drinks. So excited to have this excellent restaurant in our hood!!!

Amazing experience! Food, service, ambience were all outstanding!!

We were visiting friends in Banner Elk and they wanted to go here for our farewell dinner. Excellent choice! Cool vibe from the moment you park and walk in. Nice outside deck to dine if the weather permits. Huge front porch with some seats to wait for your reservation to be called. (Reservations permitted for parties of 6 or more.) We checked in with the hostess and she told us to give them about 10 more minutes to finish preparing our table.

We grabbed some open seats in front of the bar and placed wind and drink orders. There was a musician playing a variety of tunes from Santana to classical, very enjoyable and soothing. Probably nice he stops playing at 8 since we were seated right next to where he was playing which would've made conversation at our table a challenge.

We kept the drinks flowing with a selection of wines and cocktails. This is the first place I've ever experienced "wine on tap"but it seemed to be acceptable to our friends. Pretty good selection of wines by the glass or bottle and fairly priced.

For dinner we bounced around the menu with a selection of pastas, fish, steaks, salads and shrimp. Wild Mushroom Fettuccine was out of this world delicious. Highly recommended! The wild mushrooms were perfectly season and blended with the pasta and finished with black truffle sea salt and Parmesan cheese. Fred had a New York strip and asked for very rare and they came up a little short on this one but he said the flavor was good and the plate was clean when they took it away. Another friend had Salmon with sweet potato that was cooked to perfection and delicious. The shrimp skewer was a little underwhelming. Lastly the Entree Caesar salad which was above par and satisfying.

The overall experience was superb. Our best dining experience in the area for the week without a doubt. The new owners have done an amazing job transforming the place and it has the perfect vibe for date night, special occasion or just a perfect meal. Way to go guys!

Great Sunday brunch! We've been going all summer! Yummy Bloody Marys and omelette, best restaurant biscuits I've had! Fresh and yummy!

New owners, newly renovated, and absolutely fantastic!!! Great new bar, and the prime rib is to die for!!!

This is one of the classiest places to eat in Banner Elk. I have been here many many times for different reasons. The best time we had was for my daughter birthday, she was turning 18 and everyone was amazing in making her feel so special. If you are in the area this is the place to go.

My friends and I were staying in Sugar Mountain and decided to eat at Stonewalls and we were all exceptionally pleased with the food and the service. Vegan options were not on the menu but the chef was so accommodating and provided an excellent mushroom pasta dish with asparagus and garlic. It was to die for!! One friend had the pork chop dinner and said it was divine. Another friend had the shrimp scampi and lobster bisque and could barely speak because it was so good! They also have an excellent salad bar with over 50 items of fresh delicious veggies and different flavors of olive oil and vinegars for your delight. I would highly recommend eating here. Also, if you are lucky enough to sit in the bar section, it's so nicely lit and much more appealing than the main dining room which seems more like cafeteria dining.

  • *****

My first brunch experience here will not be my last! From the great service to the amazing food, this has been one of the best restaurant experiences I've had. With a group of 15, I was concerned the level of service may be compromised. Those concerns were quelled as soon as our server, Liz, introduced herself. If you visit Stonewall's bring your appetite! Large portions served with a smile!

  • *****

Another great dining experience in Banner Elk, NC! Husband's filet, amazing! Swordfish, delicious!

We only stayed in the area for one week so the last night there we want to return to a place we sorta rushed in to dine. This time we had the waiter (Daniel) picked out ahead of time and arrived during a Saturday evening. They were slammed as the saying goes, but we were delighted to wait for what we expected. While we were waIting the music of Bill Stevenson entertained us in the bar area as we had a glass of wine. We were not disappointed in any manner. In fact, even more encouraged to come back. Prime Rib was excellent even medium rare as late as we were. Don't miss out on this oppurtunity for fine dinning at a reasonable price.

  • *****

The olive oil selection was astounding, everyone in the restaurant seemed to enjoy trying them out before taking some home for themselves. The food was delicious and the chefs ability to accommodate for dietary restrictions was much appreciated. I can't wait to visit again!

  • *****

Resturants should be reviewed by Food, Service, Atmosphere, Management, and overall experience. This resturant exceeds all expectations on a Monday evening.
Crab cake made to feel like you were on the beach in Maryland because that's the best I've had since being there. Soup and Salad Bar was superior in taste and presentation. My wife wanted a vegetable plate a she was accomdated with specially prepared platter from the chef beyond all expectations, likely able to do this because it was Monday late crowd.
We will return for top of the line dining at a resturant that strives for customer satisfaction. Thank you.

  • *****

Great food, great service. New decor. My go to at least twice a week. Plenty of variety. Love their salad bar.

Stonewalls has been a Banner Elk favorite for years! It just keeps getting better! The new owners, Scott and Tim, are working hard to make it the best place in town and they're doing just that! The new renovations and additions to the menu have added just what was needed! Of course you get the famous salad bar and the same fantastic steaks but the nightly specials are just that... SPECIAL! So don't over look them! The new bar area is not only beautiful and comfortable but the bar menu and cocktails are like nothing in town! So the next time you're in Banner Elk or if you're a local, go by and see Scott and Tim and their fantastic team for a scrumptious meal and top notch service!

We love Stonewalls. The Teriyaki Salmon is my favorite. The salad bar is awesome too. LOVE the new decor and remodel. I would highly recommend Stonewalls. Can't wait to visit again soon.

  • *****

We had a very nice meal at Stonewalls. Our server was attentive, the food came out prepared beautifully. The owner was friendly. We had a great experience! The table next to us seemed to have a rough time-- nothing was to their liking-- except the bottle of wine they consumed. It's amazing how a miserable table next to you can make your own meal uncomfortable. We were delighted when they burped (loudly!) and hobbled (sideways!) their way out of the restaurant. Still, we look forward to going back and enjoying the great food at Stonewalls.

  • *****

I've been coming to Stonewalls for years and have NEVER had a bad meal. Salad bar is super yummy and the steaks are awesome. New renovations are a great facelift. Stonewalls 2.0 is now in full effect and worth the trip for a meal.

I visited this restaurant last Sunday evening and had an interesting visit. The food was very good, the service was very friendly, the kitchen was slow & the prices were high, but the quality of the food matched.

First off, the food. I ordered the Prime Rib (owner's cut, more on this later) with a baked potato & vegetable soup. Not a big fan of vegetable soup but was feeling it that night and it was tasty, but reminded me I'm also not a vegetable soup fan. The Prime Rib was very, very good. Not the best I've ever had, but I'd say top 10. It had very little fat also which was a pleasant surprise.

The service we had from two different waiters who shared the duties were very polite and friendly. They also were very attentive as you'd expect in a restaurant of this price range. The kitchen was a bit slow though, especially for an evening that was not a busy one in the restaurant. I also was a little perturbed by the fact that I only found out 15 or so minutes after placing the order that they didn't have enough for an Owner's Cut of my Prime Rib, so I'd get the smaller. They did more than make up for it by adding on a entree side for free. I chose Teriyaki Grilled Skewer of Shrimp which I must say were DELICIOUS.

I did taste my mother's fish (Parmesan Encrusted Tilapia with a balsamic glaze) and my father's Teriyaki Sirloin (ate these for leftovers the next day). Both dishes were very good as well and maybe even more so than my Prime Rib. My mother (big seafood fan) even claimed that it was the best fish she'd had outside of the Caribbean. Oddest thing ever that between her fish and my shrimp we'd find such good seafood dishes in the mountains away from where both were caught.

All in all a very good meal that had some inadequacies, but I felt the food made up for it and I'd gladly eat there again.

  • *****

We had been to this restaurant a few years ago and it was really busy. This time we went on a Friday night and there was hardly anyone there. The service was fair and the food was just a bit above average. My husband had the prime rib and it was slightly over done from the rare he ordered. He said he thought it was better a few years back. I had the filet and it was pretty tasty but not anywhere near bragging rights.

  • *****

Food was excellent including the salad bar! :) the waiter was great he was real friendly to me, my parents and my Aunt! I would recommend it to anybody whenever they go to North Carolina!

  • *****

Awesome filets! After an issue with another patron regarding us bring our kids in to the restaurant (I guess they figured people with kids aren't supposed to be out in public), the manager took charge and made us feel super welcome. They have a great kids menu and are all super friendly. We love it here!!

  • *****

My husband and I had our first anniversary dinner at Stonewalls last night. We ordered the fried pickles, lobster bisque, salad bar, and emperor prime rib with maple mashed sweet potatoes to share. Everything came up at once but it was fine because we dined "family style" and it was perfect. The service was very attentive without being invasive and we felt very welcomed. The food was delicious, especially the lobster bisque, which was my personal favorite, but it all hit the spot! We definitely will be returning to Stonewalls during our next visit to Banner Elk.

  • *****

For the location, great food and service. Added a salad to the ribeye dinner, fantastic salad (could honestly been okay with just the salad given you can go back for more) and dessert. So much food and reasonable prices. Will definitely come back.

  • *****

Amazing experience at Stonewalls! I had the filet and my husband had the blackberry duck---both of which were the most tender we have ever had! Liz, our server, was incredible! She was knowledgeable, attentive, and made our experience excellent and memorable. We will definitely be back!

  • *****

Very good food. Did not have a dessert menu available, but they did have desserts. Great salad bar. They do cook their steaks/prime rib on the rare side of things. A tasty horseradish paste comes with the prime rib as well as au jus. Great bread and a nice atmosphere with live music.

  • *****

We have always enjoyed dining at Stonewalls for special occasions and the food has always exceeded expectations. Last night was the best yet. The salad bar was sparkling with fresh delicious items (don't miss out on the homemade pimiento cheese, ok?) and our steaks were perfectly cooked. Can't say enough kind words about our server, Jason, who was super attentive and conscientious to our needs.

We need to start celebrating a little more often with the folks at Stonewalls! The only disappointment was that we didn't have room for dessert; the folks at the next table had a decadent chocolate dessert of some kind that looked to die for. Next time, maybe we'll eat dessert first.

  • *****

Got there early, excellent service at the olive oil tasting room. Our waiter continued the excellent service, presenting many dinner specials. Food and the atmosphere were pleasant and would recommend anytime.

  • *****

AWESOME FOOD! Great staff & excellent service! This was our first vacation to this area and our first restaurant we tried. It was the best food we had on our trip (& best meal we've had out in a very long time!). The owner Scott is super nice and very involved with the customers, and the rest of the staff, particularly Chris, was very welcoming and friendly. They even gave us tips on where to go and see while there. This place is a MUST GO if you're in the area- try the cheese dip, ribs, and rib-eye if you go, you will not be disappointed!! I wish they weren't 4 hours away from us now that we're back home! Thanks for everything, you guys! We will be back same time, next year!

  • *****

The tenderloin tip special was absolutely amazing. I really recommend it! Best place to it in town. I will sleep happy tonight!!
My wife had the veal marsala special and she also couldn't stop eating it!

  • *****

We had a great dinner. Jason did an outstanding job as our server. He had great recommendations, very personable and attentive. I recommend Stonewalls for a great dinner!

  • *****

Any steak is good, chicken too. A staple in BE

Absolutely best place in area. Everything was perfect. Filet was unbelievable. I never post reviews but wanted to counter the negative reviews posted here. Some guy saying place is pricey? and lady complaining about $14 for salad bar for her brat kids? They are nuts. Sounds like these people belong at McDonalds down the street. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

  • *****

Fast service, good food but for the price should have gotten two sides with meal.

  • *****

Kind of pricey but the food was tasty and the staff were attentive!

This is a favorite place for me & my husband! We live in Blowing Rock and enjoy making the drive out to Banner Elk for a nice dinner. The atmosphere is always nice, the waitstaff is attentive, great wine list, and the food is always good. We actually came here for a quiet dinner on our wedding day and it was a great ending to our special day. We recommend the coconut shrimp and teriyaki chicken!

  • *****

Great food best salad bar and prime rib ever. Service perfect. Clean and folks are proud of their establishment. Best restaurant in town. Try it! Very special evening

  • *****

Excellent prime rib, salad bar has a lot of choices, service was great. Prices also reasonable and it is a comfortable place to eat. Not too loud and nice chairs.

  • *****

We both had the salad bar. It was plentiful. Wife had steak with baked potato, me ribs and baked potato. Potatoes and steak was good. The ribs were OK. But I have had far better at chain restaurants. Felt out of place as we don't drink but everyone else did. Will not be back

  • *****

Very good food a bit costly but full of flavor warm bread served before the meal and olive oil samples to go with the bread we came with a party of 9 and we liked what we got would recommend for anyone wanting pasta steak or seafood

  • *****

My wife, two girls and I went while on vacation. The salad bar was very clean and full of excellent choices. I had the steak, medium rare and it was boasting with flavor and cooked to a perfect temperature. My wife had the shrimp scampi and it was so good that our 4 year old ate half of it. Perhaps the best part of the experience was our waiter. A former military man and family man made us feel to home the whole time and kept our girls smiling.

    Taste Bud Sensation
Great Atmosphere! Best salad bar - Lots to choose from and it includes bread, crackers, and cheese. The prime rib melts in your mouth. One can't visit Stonewalls without a taste of the mud pie (chocolate crust and coffee ice cream). One serving is big enough for 2 and tastes heavenly with a steaming cup of coffee.

    A GREAT dining experience
We ate here 2 nights in a row we loved it so much! The prime rib is noteworthy! The staff is attentive and polite, lots of smiling people (they must like their jobs)! The second night, I tried the crab cakes - not recommended. Too much breading. However, the salad bar is outstanding (all meals come with the salad bar). All four of us were happy with this restaurant.

Steaks and Salad Bar appeal to skiers
Great place for apres skiers...basic salad bar with crock cheese. Steaks are good and worth the price.
Exterior stone walls are inviting. Ample parking at restaurant and across street. The interior, now brightly lit with white walls, is not as charming as the previous mountain style darker colors and decor.

Came in on new years ever while in town on vacation. Very nice meal. Family enjoyed ribeyes and filets. Nice sides and appetizers. Wine list was reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

We didn't eat here. We came here for the olive oil and balsamics. It was a nice highlight to our road trip. I'm not sure what the food is like. However, the olive oil and balsamics worker was very helpful. The two of us purchased 5 mini bottles each. We spent at least 20 minutes trying different combinations of olive oil and vinegars with bread and ice cream. As strange as it sounds, the fruity balsamics go great as a mixin of vanilla ice cream. The best by far for people that like spicy is the "green chile" extra virgin olive oil.

  • *****

Nice restaurant with good, not great food. It's definitely a nice date night location in this limited market. The $15 bottles of wine is a nice perk and the French Onion Soup as well as salad bar are worth the visit alone. Don't miss the newly opened Balsamic and Olive Oil Tasting Room.

My favorite restaurant in Banner Elk!! Their famous salad bar is delicious and their food is amazing!!

  • *****

Outside appearance was welcoming. Seated quickly. Some of THE best service we have had in a very long time. Brooke did an amazing job. The interior seemed dated but it was clean. Dimmed lighting. My son had the salmon special. My wife had the brandy steak special. I had the queens cut prime rib. All were excellent! For some reason, the cut the outter portion of the prime rib off. This is the first time ive had prime rib like this. The salad bar had a good wide selection of choices, very well kept, and had a person standing there for constant restocking. The microbrew selection was weak. Minimal. For the house wines.....no local selections. Would have been nice to try some. After eating, you should definitely try the olive oil/basalmic bar. There are endless flavor combinations that you can have. My favorite was cinnamon pear mixed with chipotle. The host gave us a sample of vanilla ice cream with a blood orange and chocolate oil/vinegar mixture on it. Delicious. My wife loved it so much that we ended up buying 6 bottles. I would definitely recommend this place.

Stonewall's is a nice little casual steakhouse nestled in downtown Banner Elk. I've been here as a student and back as a grown up with my own $$$. They have a salad bar that's included with most entrees. The food is pretty good, albeit a little overpriced, but there aren't many 'nice' restaurants in the mountains so you're paying for ambiance. Good date night place for locals, graduation/birthday spot for students and parents. It needs some updating but that can be said for a lot of places in the area. Nice place for a steak and a glass of wine while visiting.

  • *****

Outstanding service with all our questions answered about cuts of steaks. All four of us were super satisfied and the medium rare order was definitely more cooked than our son's rare order, so someone was back there listening closely. OMGoodness, love the oil and vinegar. The lemon olive oil is so amazing! We felt special!

On a recent trip to Blowing Rock, we decided to try Stonewall Restaurant in Banner Elk, North Carolina. This fine dining establishment offers a wide variety of steaks, seafood, and just about anything you are looking for.

During the summer, they offer three specials that include a visit to the salad bar, the entree and side, dessert, and drink. I chose the Surf N' Turf, a 6oz. sirloin, 6 grilled shrimp, pasta alfredo, and broccoli.

The salad bar was quite extensive, with everything you could ever want on a salad and more. The steak was good and adequate for the size of the meal and the shrimp was outstanding, grilled perfection. My only negative on this meal was the dessert; it was not quite up to the level of what I would expect from a fine dining restaurant.

Dora here. Don't be ragging on their desserts, Ernie. You passed by the Crme Brule and other more elaborate options for the strawberry shortcake. You're just upset that Little Man ate the whole piece! Lol.

Not as ravenous as the rest of our crew, I ordered the Petite Sirloin and a baked potato. The sirloin was tender and cooked to my taste, with just a hint of pink, and the baked potato was huge. Definitely didn't leave the table hungry.

We rate this restaurant 4 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant serving great food. For more restaurant reviews, check out Fiction Faith & Foodies. ~Ernie & Dora Hiers

Best place to eat in Banner Elk!!!! Great service, loved the olive and basaltic taste room, steaks were perfect, chicken teriyaki was delicious and the shrimp skewers had great flavor! Will be back on our next visit!

    The locals recommend this place!
Want to find a good restaurant? - always ask someone who lives there, "where do you go?" That's how we found this place. Casual fine dining with extremely friendly & helpful staff. This is primarily a steak place with some seafood. They have a wonderful salad bar with items not commonly seen. A fair to good wine list. Crab cakes were good. The babyback ribs desired a lot. Stick to the steak and seafood items.
